Environment Film Fest in Delhi from Nov 21 to 24

CHENNAI: The Vatavaran Film Festival, the country's only festival of environment and wildlife films, will be held in Delhi from Nov 21 to 24. Organised by the Centre for Media Studies (CMS) and supported by the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests, the Vatavaran awards - ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1.5 lakh - will be presented to documentary films in eight categories.

The categories include wildlife conservation, wildlife natural history and environment and public service messages spots. Awards will also be presented for the best animation film, student film and to the most environmentally conscious broadcaster. The last date for entries is July 15. The jury is headed by the film director, Mr Shyam Benegal. To encourage young, environmentally-conscious filmmakers, CMS will also be giving several film fellowships or Rs 1 lakh each.
