Summary: This is a video presented at two levels. It is a film on the Indian peafowl shorn of legend, folklore and mythology- a film on the live bird. It is also a film, which connects the bird to Indian Culture via the Raagamala paintings of India and through a visualization of two prominent Hindustani raagas’ Sarang’ and ‘Megh’. The film depicts the life of the peacock from hatching to adulthood. The film is the result of observing and photographing peafowls in their natural habitat for a period of over one and a half years.

Producer’s/Director’s Profile: Dr. Susan Sharma, Ph.D (IITD) is adapting the latest information technology tools to spread awareness about nature and wildlife. She runs a website called IndianWildlifeClub.com, which has an expanding user base of nature lovers as members. Her digital videos are self-financed. Her film Sarang – The Peacock was screened at the International Film Festival held in Mumbai in Feb 2000 and was telecasted in Mumbai Doordarshan in October 99. Corbett with Love was screened at the Delhi International film festival, was also selected at IDPA awards function.
