Y Alphonse Roy, Wildlife Cinematographer

Alphonse Roy developed his interest in Photography and wildlife from his late father Yogeshwara Moorthy. He graduated from the chennai Film institute in 1985 and started his career in TV shows and Documentaries. His documentary on Tibet titled "Lost Civilization" for the prestigious PBS channel channel earned him an Emmy. The Emmy award made him easily acceptable in with the western film makers and broadcasters. His entry into wildlife film making started at Bandhavgarh under the guidance of veteran film maker Mr. Ashish Chandola. To he has to his credit, that he has shot the most number of films on Tigers. He has filmed wildlife in Africa, Amazon river, Bhutan, Srilanka & India. His claim to fame was when Animal Planet decided to shoot a film on him titled Great Cats of India. He is one among the first few to have been lucky to film the snow leopard in the wild. His yet to be aired film titled Tiger Kill has the clean recording of a Tiger making a kill, this is probably the second clean recording of a Tiger making a kill after the famous kill of Gengis khan filmed by Stanley breeden nearly 20 yrs ago.
